Care workers continue to have one of the highest rates of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) internationally. The manual handling of people (MHP), including assisting clients to walk or move about, transfer to/from furniture, and perform daily hygiene activities, has long been identified as a principal contributing factor to the high MSD incidence among support staff.
Because of the rapid increase in the number of older adults globally and the growing need for aged care and disability services, MSD injury risk exposure for care workers is likely to further increase.
This course has been designed to not only reduce the risk of MSD but assist key people within services to train and monitor the MHP practices of staff.
