Summary of Occupation – A disability worker provides personal, physical and emotional support to disabled people who require assistance with daily living. They provide assistance with showering, dressing and eating, and often facilitate or assist with outings and other social activities. The level of assistance provided will depend on the ability and health of the client. Care may also include assistance with self-medication and arranging activities to enhance the client’s physical, emotional and intellectual development.


Training is the acquisition of knowledge and skills as a result of the teaching of vocational or practical skills and knowledge that relate to specific work roles or job functions.   Training has specific goals of improving the student’s capability, capacity and performance.   Akadia Training will ensure each student receives the guidance and support necessary to fulfil their desire to become a Disability Worker.
